For a long time now I have known that there are certain foods that don’t make me feel too good after eating them. Cramp pains, migraines, bloating… After Christmas, and obviously eating and drinking so much, I really wasn’t feeling good and decided that I needed to work out what it was.

After having lots of tests done, I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with a very bad case of Histamine Intolerance. To be honest, I had no idea whatsoever what histamine was or what it was in. So I’ve been doing a lot of research: Histamine is naturally found in a lot of foods, such as most dairy products, yeast, tomato, spinach, cacao, alcohol, strawberries, tea, coffee… The list goes on and on and on. Obviously cutting all of these things out of my diet would be impossible, as I also haven’t eaten meat for over 3 years now, so it would be very hard…

For the last 2 weeks I have been following a low histamine diet, and then will slowly introduce products and see which ones I’m ok with and which ones I’m not. I feel so much better than what I did after Christmas, but I love food and sometimes it’s hard knowing what to cook or order at restaurants. I’ve been trying out recipes myself. Heres a cheese free, yeast free, tomato free pizza… And no, it wasn’t very good! haha. it tasted like a soggy biscuit with veg on top! Have any of you ever heard of Histamine intolerance? Any tips, recipes, thoughts would be really really helpful! Thanks x
